George Morris (October 23, 1616 – c. 1685) was an English-born surveyor, military officer, and politician in colonial Virginia. George served before and during the Bacon Rebellion, and later served as a member of the House of Burgesses for New Kent County from 1680 to 1682.
The 1695 Essex Witch Trial in Virginia involved Ann Ball accusing Ellinor Morris of witchcraft after Ball fell ill. Unlike the Salem witch trials, this case was treated as a civil matter. The jury acquitted Morris and found Ball guilty of defamation, ordering her to pay damages.
Achilles Morris (May 8, 1800 – February 15, 1847) was an American politician and military officer. During the 1832 Black Hawk War, Morris served as Lincoln's commanding officer. That same year, he defeated Lincoln in the Illinois House of Representatives election for Sangamon County.
